Is LinkedIn worth it for a small business?

A lot of small businesses write LinkedIn off as "just for recruiters and job changes." That's outdated. The feed has genuinely become a place for company updates, launches, and everyday posts β not only career news.
Where it helps most: B2B services, consulting, and anything selling to other businesses or to people making decisions at work rather than shopping for themselves. LinkedIn's audience skews heavily toward exactly that mindset, which makes it a naturally better fit than feed platforms built around personal browsing.
Where it's a weaker fit: consumer-facing, visual, lifestyle-driven brands. That audience mostly isn't scrolling LinkedIn expecting that kind of content, and it shows in engagement β Instagram or Facebook will almost always outperform it there.
One practical note either way: whatever gets posted needs to actually look native to the platform. A stretched Instagram square dropped into a LinkedIn feed reads as an afterthought, not a professional update. It's part of why a LinkedIn-native format β built at the ratio the feed actually favors, not resized from something else β is worth having as its own option rather than an afterthought.
