How often should you actually post on social media?

Search for the ideal posting frequency and you'll find a different number in every result, often contradicting the last one. That's not because the advice is bad β it's because frequency in isolation is the wrong question to start with.
What actually matters more is consistency over volume. A predictable, sustainable rhythm β even a modest one β outperforms a burst of daily posts that vanishes after two weeks. Audiences and algorithms both learn to expect you at a certain pace, and disappearing resets that.
A more useful way to pick a number: start from what you can sustain without letting quality slip, not from an aspirational target you'll quietly abandon. Posting twice a week reliably, for months, beats posting daily for one month and then going quiet.
Different formats can flex that number differently β a quick, low-effort story can go out almost daily, while a more polished feed post is realistically sustainable at two to four times a week for most small teams. Once generation itself is fast, the real bottleneck stops being production time and becomes simply staying consistent β which is a scheduling problem, not a design one.
